Remember when traveling was called traveling?

Does anyone else remember when traveling was called? ![]()
The rules have changed in terms of traveling in the last 10-15 years. The first, and most obvious, is the two step then jump stop. And the other is how kids are allowed to hop and shuffle to set their feet, after they catch the ball.
I used to study and practice Steve Alford tapes (including his instructional video) on how to catch the ball and properly pivot/square up as quicly as possible, without traveling. Now it is never called.
Carrying is another issue/rule that is much more laxed.
The only constant that seems to still get called is the first step dribble drive.
Traveling is not an interpretable rule for officials. It is, or should be, very black & white. Players should not have to adjust to that aspect of the game.
This day and age is more up tempo, flashy style of basketball… the basics kinda get lost sometimes i think.

In the NBA it is ridiculous and it is just trickeling down from college and now to high school, in 10 years I bet high school will be just as bad as the NBA. I dont really mind it but it would be nice to see the refs follow the rules.
